Chapter Ten
Simone
My eyes open as I hear the door to my room open. I see Bailey through blurry eyes and she smiles down at me. “Sorry to wake you honey.”
“It’s fine.” After stretching a little, I sit up and yawn loudly.
Bailey laughs. “How was your visit to your moms?”
“Tough.” I sigh. “I went there annoyed at her for lying and keeping secrets, but I left with more respect for her than I ever have.”
“That’s nice.” She smiles sweetly. “So was everything Venom said true?”
“Yep.” I nod. “But hearing it from my mother’s side gave me a whole new look at it. She felt as though her son died, that’s how much Venom affected her. He sounded like a terrible child.”
Bailey raises her eyebrows. “Why doesn’t that shock me?”
Agreeing, I nod. “She doesn’t accept that Venom is her son. To her, her son was called Jordan and died on his first birthday.”
“That’s so sad.” Bailey sits on her bed opposite mine, her eyes wondering to the many black bags on the floor.
“I collected my things from my mom’s.” I explain. “Help yourself to anything.”
“Thank you.” She smiles and then I notice the bottle of water next to my bed with a sticky note beside it. “What’s that?”
I look up from the note, smiling like a fool. “A little note from a friend.”
“A friend?” She giggles. “Is that friend a club president by any chance? Goes by the name of Breaker?”
I open my bottle of water, it’s not as chilled as it would have been when Breaker first brought it for me, but I’m grateful for the gesture. “Perhaps.”
When we got back to the clubhouse, Breaker greeted us and helped with all the bags I had brought back with me. He praised me for going to see my mom and talking through our demons but he wasn’t happy we hadn’t spent any of the money he had given us. Once all the bags were in my room, I fell onto my bed, making Breaker laugh at me. He had asked if I wanted a drink at the bar, but I was too tired so he left me to it.
“He likes you.”
I roll my eyes. “You sound like Olivia.”
“Smart girl.” She responds and I laugh.
I freshen myself up and we leave the room together. I feel a little out of place seeing as I’ve just woken up and going by the time, I’ve been asleep for three hours!
The main bar area is packed with members, family and friends. Music is starting to become loud and there’s a few club whores dancing around, trying to get the attention of men nearby. Bailey and I approach the bar, deciding what we might want to drink. As I order them, Breaker approaches us and my body starts to do that weird shit again. I take a sip of my Vodka and coke before turning to face him.
“Have a nice sleep?” Breaker asks.
“I did.” I smile. “Thank you for the water.”
Breaker shrugs, his eyes warming my body as they travel over me.
